Community Rewilding Days
Embercombe is pleased to announce the next dates of Lottery-funded Community Rewilding Days aimed to reconnect isolated individuals and rural families in the Teign Valley area to our beautiful 50 acres of land and learn about rewilding.
Join us for these free family-friendly sessions led our our Rewilding Lead Laura Fairs where you will learn skills in biodiversity/wildlife surveying, tree and plant identification and plant, insect and mammal surveys as well as practical land-based and rewilding skills such as planting, coppicing, hedge-laying, fencing and animal care.
The days are free to attend but booking is essential. Please book by emailing: rewilding@embercombe.org

Fire by Friction Rewilding practical skills session! Learn to make fire using a bow drill and working with different materials we find in our beautiful woodland. |
Age 8yrs +, under 16’s must be with an adult. |

Forest bathing Come and connect with nature as we guide you through a two-hour sensory immersion in the stunning woodland at Embercombe. Connect to the woodland as you deepen your appreciation and gratitude for nature, reduce stress and bring some balance, focus and clarity. This is a reflective and gentle journey which you’ll share with others who also want to explore the natural world. Please come along willing to immerse yourself in the experience. The walk will take place outside no matter the weather so please wrap up warmly and bring waterproofs. |
Suitable for people 16 years old and above. |

Bat Walk Join us for an evening bat walk in our superb and abundant woodland. We’ll be using bat detectors and hearing expert guidance on the bats that are joining us in the woods, along the hedgerows and across our pond! Bring a torch! |
Suitable for adults and children aged 6yr+ but please note that all children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. This event will take place across uneven ground, in our woodland in the dark! |

Dawn chorus Join us on National Dawn Chorus Day to hear the cacophony of wonderful birdsong at dawn followed by watching the beautiful sunrise over the valley. |
Suitable for children aged 5yrs+ but please note that this event involves stopping and listening mindfully to the birds so we ask that parents consider this when booking. Under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. |

Campout and moths Rewild your soul as we camp out overnight on a beautiful spring evening. Join our moth expert to find out what moths are sharing our space. We will wake up early to discover what we have attracted in our moth-friendly traps! Breakfast included. Please note you may book to just attend the moth trapping event in the evening if you do not wish to camp. Please let us know this when you get in touch. |

Butterfly walk Join us as we follow our butterfly transect around Embercombe through our beautiful meadows to discover what species of butterfly live on our land. This event is great preparation for the National Big Butterfly count on 14th July! |
All ages welcome. Under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. This event will involve following a set route across our wildland, counting butterflies and identifying the different species we find. |
We are grateful that this project has been generously funded by Lottery Awards for All and welcome all people and community groups in the rural areas around the Teign Valley, Higher Ashton, Chudleigh and Bovey Tracey to join us.
