Who are we, what is the world, how can we understand consciousness, and can we really neglect the sacred and divine?

These are all questions that are posed in Iain McGilchrist’s wonderful new book, The Matter With Things.

Join us in conversation as we find out how, through the paths of neurology, philosophy and physics, he has come to a vision of the world that is profound and beautiful and in line with the deepest traditions of human wisdom. One that he feels ‘returns the world to life, and us to a better way of living in it’.

How do we get there? – come and find out.

Dr Iain McGilchrist is one of the contributors on our apprenticeship programme in Contemporary Animism

Dr Iain McGilchrist

Dr Iain McGilchrist, is committed to the idea that the mind and brain can be understood only by seeing them in the broadest possible context, that of the whole of our physical and spiritual existence, and of the wider human culture in which they arise – the culture which helps to mould, and in turn is moulded by, our minds and brains.

His books include Against Criticism (Faber), The Master and his Emissary: The Divided Brain and the Making of the Western World (Yale UP), The Divided Brain and the Search for Meaning; Why Are We So Unhappy? (Yale UP), and Ways of Attending (Routledge).
