THRUTOPIA – Creating the Future We’re Proud to Leave Behind

With Manda Scott and Indra Adnan

What do you imagine when you look ahead to the rest of this decade and the one after… and everything that emerges from them?

For most people in our culture, the narratives available through film, television, novels, poetry and song are of the system we’re used to – the one that is ending – or grim survivalist dystopias, hybrids between The Road and Handmaid’s Tale.

But suppose we were able to create narratives of a generative, flourishing future: one we’d be proud to leave to our children? How would we do that and what might it look like?

Indra Adnan and Manda Scott are both giving their lives to creating the route maps to that generative future: plausible, grounded stories that take us from here to there, where ‘there’ is somewhere we’d all want to aim for. Join us to explore how you, too, can be part of creating a better future. What else is life for?

Manda Scott

Manda Scott

Manda Scott is a novelist, smallholder, shamanic teacher and – soon – podcaster. Her Boudica: Dreaming books both grew out of and informed her shamanic dreaming practice and were the start of a fifteen year journey of teaching small groups. Now, as we near the biggest crisis in our evolutionary history, she is focussing more on how to bring the birthright of shamanic dreaming to wider groups of people and combine it with the explosion in cognitive neuroscience that is teaching us how to shape the structures of our minds. Her belief is that we can make the next evolutionary step consciously, but that we will need to know how to ask for help of the Heart Mind of the Universe – and that we need to get to grips with this as a matter of urgency. Yesterday would be good. Today will do. Tomorrow might be too late.

Indra Adnan

Indra Adnan

A trained psychotherapist, Indra Adnan has spent over twenty years building networks and organising events on the themes of future politics, conflict transformation, the role of the arts and integral thinking. In this context she has been consultant to the World Economic Forum, Indian, Finnish and Danish governments, NATO, the Scottish Executive and the Institute of Contemporary Arts.

She is founder and co-initiator, together with Pat Kane, of The Alternative UK, a political platform, which answers the question: if politics is broken, what’s the alternative?
