James Hicks

James is a Director of Impact Management at Bridges Fund Management, a private equity firm that pursues social and environmental objectives alongside financial returns. Prior to this, he worked at the Impact Management Project, an initiative aiming to achieve global consensus on how to measure, manage and report on sustainability. Here he worked with the OECD, UN Bodies and several other global organisations that develop the leading standards and guidance related to sustainability.

James, background is in investment. After completing an Economics degree at Durham University, he spent the first part of his career investing in private equity funds across Europe and Asia.

He is also a fellow of On Purpose, a year-long career and personal development programme that places professionals in purpose driven organisations. It was here that he first heard of a magical place called ‘Embercombe’.

James loves the sense of peace and grounding that comes with being in nature. He currently lives in the city but has ambitions to move closer to the mountains and wilderness.
