Ruth Dobson

I first came to Embercombe as a participant on The Journey.  The week on the land gave me time to reflect on my personal leadership and the role that I wish to play in creating the kind of world that I want to live in. My world and Embercombe continued to intersect and I am delighted to be able to serve the organisation as a member of the Board of Trustees.

My professional background includes leading and developing international teams, advising major multinationals, developing new businesses and multi-partner collaborations, leading social enterprises and consulting to NGOs.I  was formerly a Partner with PwC, specialising in cross-border mergers and acquisitions and leading a Sustainability and Climate Change practice. More recently have held interim leadership positions and now work as an independent consultant and non-executive. I was based in China for almost a decade, and have also worked in East Africa, across Europe, Asia and the US.

I am a history graduate, a Chartered Accountant, and a Clore Social Leadership Fellow, and I have a Masters in Poverty Reduction. I once cycled from Cairo to Cape Town and have run ultra-marathons. I practice yoga and meditation and I love walking in the countryside as often as I can.

For me Embercombe is a place where leaders can find time to pause from the busy world we find ourselves within, reflect on what really matters and move forward refreshed, with clarity of purpose.

What does Embercombe mean to you?

A place where leaders can find time to pause from the busy world we find ourselves within, reflect on what really matters and move forward refreshed, with clarity of purpose.
